About the Role

We are seeking a Program Manager to join our team at Cure Blindness Project. This position involves providing operational, programmatic, and strategic support to regional initiatives focused on eliminating avoidable blindness in Eastern Africa. The role requires working in a dynamic, multi-country environment with a focus on collaboration, program excellence, and regional expansion.

Missions

  • Support the development and implementation of regional strategies and annual operational plans in close collaboration with partner teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support to the Tanzania portfolio, overseeing recent expansion efforts and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, sustainable eye care programs.
  • Strengthen performance monitoring systems, including data collection, scorecard tracking, and joint review processes to ensure continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Foster strategic partnerships by representing Cure Blindness Project in technical forums, donor meetings, and government engagements, and by developing and maintaining effective MOUs and agreements.
  • Support the planning, budgeting, and financial oversight of regional programs, ensuring compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and managing expenditure risks.

The Program Manager will dedicate approximately 40% of their time to overseeing the Tanzania portfolio and 60% to regional activities across Eastern Africa, including participation in regional meetings, travel up to 20%, and cross-country coordination. The role operates primarily through technical leadership, relationship management, and performance oversight, without direct supervisory responsibilities but with a focus on guiding teams and partners towards shared objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Health Sciences, International Development, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with an international NGO or business
  • Progressive experience in program management within global health, public health systems, or international development.
  • Strong communicator familiar with working independently in a cross-functional role
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with budget preparation and analysis, financial reporting preparation and presentation
  • Previous experience partnering with and managing government relations
  • Experience building inclusive partnerships that support community-led, long‑term sustainability
  • Prior program management experience and strong organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel
  • Excellent oral and written English skills required
